I have to say that this is the recipe I was looking for! A yellowish cake made from scratch. I followed the recipe to a T except I did what others suggested - foam the butter and sugar well (for most five minutes). I mixed everything with the electric mixer and at the end my batter looked like yellowish Absurd Whip. The flavour is buttery and the sweetness is simply right. Just make sure to frost it light because it doesn't need a lot of it. The texture of the cake (both times I made it) was in betwixt a pound cake and a fluffy cake. Mine was NOT like cornbread at all. Thanks for this keen recipe.

Mixed properly and not overbaked, this is a fine, moist butter cake. I used Penzey's double force vanilla and, for extra richness and moistness, I added an egg yolk in add-on to the two eggs chosen for. This cake has a fibroid crumb which I'm certain would be great for cakes where it's important they are sturdy and hold their shape. If you're looking for a more delicate cake with a fine crumb this would not exist the recipe to use. I baked this in an 8" circular pan, then dissever it into ii layers. I filled it with seedless raspberry jam, frosted it with "Butter Foam Frosting one," as well from this site, and coated the sides in coconut. Delicious combination of flavors, perfectly suited for this cake.

I take used this recipe on two occasions. I plant the texture of the cake to be perfect for shaping it into themes. It holds together very , very well. Everyone who had the cake at the 2 birthday parties commented on its good taste . I volition utilize the cake again - that is why I am back at this site. To print information technology out once again!

Butter and eggs are what to await for in a block recipe. This isn't a low-cal froo froo cake. Apply good quality ingredients similar real vanilla and information technology'south dandy. (I often add more vanilla than a recipe calls for) Someone said it was like corn bread, it's dense like corn bread just soft, not grainy and it certainly did not taste like flour, it tasted like a vanilla flavored cake (sweet). This block will concord up to shaping. It is great alone merely frosting is ever nice too. The only difference in my ingredients, is I don't ever have milk on hand, I used powdered milk, not really a difference. Do not make if you like lighter than air, froo froo cake.

I am deplorable to report that my family and I did not care for this recipe. We institute it to be extremely coarsely textured and very dry.
12/27/2001
This is the all-time and easiest block recipe I've ever tried! It's as well the start one that didn't break when I turned it out of the pan. A true winner!
12/12/2006
I've been looking for a while for a good yellow block recipe not using cake mix flour but as a real bakery and this recipe only turned excellent. Eventhough, I added one more egg and ii extra tablespoons of buttter. It's then yummmy!
03/23/2009
This recipe is a classic and if fabricated properly, it should non come up out like cornbread. I did add an extra egg yolk and 1/2 tsp. of almond extract to the vanilla (for a little more season). If your cake is coming out dry out and like "cornbread", you are likely not using cake flour and you are non softening the butter and whipping it with the sugar until very fluffy. Be sure and use big sized eggs as well. If your palate is just used to box cake mixes, this recipe volition seem heavy and dense, merely information technology shouldn't come out like cornbread if executed properly. One other tip, be sure your eggs are at room temperature and your butter is very soft - nuts for expert baking. Good luck and don't dismiss this recipe.

This is a very good recipe!! I actually converted it into a depression sugar recipe (my husband is diabetic) and it tasted wonderful. I used 1/2 a cup of sugar and 12 packets of Equal and frosted it with a sugar free pudding and dreamwhip frosting, Yummy!! And I don't commonly like depression sugar desserts!
07/04/2007
I used this recipe for my son's altogether block. The flavor was proficient, only, I, like others, wasn't overly fond of the heaviness of the block. I probably won't make this ane again.
07/31/2002
i dont know about this one. i fabricated it well-nigh an hr ago and information technology isnt very tasty. tasted kinda similar flour. ill feed it to the kids. they might like it.

The start time I made this cake, I did not cream the butter and sugar long enough and information technology produced a block the was coarse in texture, much like cornbread to quote some of the reviewers here. When I made the cake a 2d time, I creamed the butter and sugar for nigh v minutes, then added the eggs and vanilla and mixed until simply composite before adding the flour and milk, stirring by hand. This produced a block with a much finer texture. Both cakes were yummy though! It also helps to lightly spoon the flour into the measuring cup before leveling instead of scooping out the flour with the loving cup. You use less flour this mode and information technology produces a moister production. And finally, both cakes were done waaaaayyyy earlier l minutes. The offset cake was baked in an 8x8 pan and it was a tad over done at 35 minutes. I baked the second cake for 25 minutes in a 9x9 pan and it came out perfectly.

My go-to block recipe for all of my vanilla cupcakes and fondant-covered cakes. This is a dense but moist and easy to make cake...if it'south dry like cornbread, you lot're overbaking the cake and/or mixing it also much. Mix in the flour Only until it'southward blended and the cake will stay moist. If you over mix information technology, the gluten in the flour will make the cake "tough" plus you'll add excess air into the batter. That said, I've brought tons of cupcakes to piece of work made with this particular recipe and people always beloved them. Information technology hold its shape very well. Thanks for this amazing recipe!
03/03/2012
Loved this block! Just add an extra yolk for moisture and double vanilla for excellent flavor. :D
09/14/2008
Perfect butter cake recipes. I doubled this recipe and used this for cupcakes (24) and they turned out wonderfully.
04/04/2011
I made this cake as a birthday cake for my male parent in law. Information technology was wonderful! I thought it was more "light" than previous reviewers suggested though. I didn't see a pound cake texture at all. I do recollect the clandestine is to utilize a hand mixer and mix the butter, suger, vanilla combination for a proficient v minutes on high. Then, I alternated a one-half cup flour to quarter cup milk mixing after each addition until I'd used the rest of the flour and milk. I also warmed the milk before I added it. The layers were very thin, so I concluded upwardly making four layers. They cooked in about 27 minutes. I combined raspberry jam with cream cheese to a thick consistancy for between the layers and frosted with a a mix of cream cheese, chocolate pudding mix and milk (calculation milk until the mixture was smooth, but not runny). Afterwards I coated the cake in the pudding frosting (more like a mousse!) I put the cake in the refridgerator to set the frosting. It was a huge hit. My husband said it was the best cake I'd ever made. My mother-in-law went back for seconds (very different her)... I'll be making this over again for sure.
07/03/2011
This is a fantastic cake! I followed the recipe exactly. The play a trick on for a tender nibble and texture is to cream the butter, once by itself, in one case with the sugar and again with the eggs and vanilla. You're looking for the mixture to be very calorie-free yellowish and doubled in volume.
10/xix/2010
reading all the good reviews, I thaught this block would be first-class. when I tried it the sides were hard and cruchy, and had no existent flavor.
04/01/2011
This is a fatastic cake! It tastes wonderful and is great to work with. I happened to utilize this for a cake decoration contest and it works actually well. One thing I accept to worn you on is to be sure to grease the pan WELL before y'all broil the cake. Also exist sure to scout the cake as it's baking else y'all may merely fine a blackness brick of a cake in your oven.
09/19/2010
The block came out perfect, even made cupcakes only did melt on 375 degrees. Just similar moms!!!
05/28/2009
This is elementary and quite tasty. I made cupcakes and they merely took 25 minutes. I also made i batch substituting near 1/two cup cocoa for slightly less than one/ii cup flour and it was a great chocolate version. I think information technology's difficult to screw up.
02/03/2011
good
04/22/2010
Very low-cal. Tasted like an angel nutrient cake with only 4 eggs. Very good recipie
06/25/2010
I followed this recipe exactly and I hold with the other reviewer that the concoction should look like yellow cool whip when yous are finished. I made these into cupcakes, they made nigh xiv cupcakes for me and took about 17 minutes to bake. I was concerned about them tasting like cornbread every bit other reviews had mentioned and when serving them for my friend's birthday, the outset matter out of his mouth was indeed... "they gustatory modality similar cornbread." Figures. In my opinion, the taste is quite good, moist and buttery. But the texture it what makes them appear to be cornbread-y. They were not smooth but instead had a lot of places where air bubbles had formed and acquired a course texture. Also, they did not grade domes like most bonny cupcakes do which was disappointing. Possibly they would make a ameliorate cake then a cupcake just I would not recommend making this recipe. Information technology's very like shooting fish in a barrel to make but the pay off is not expert. All in all an okay recipe, but defintely Do NOT make cupcakes with information technology. You lot will be disappointed.
11/18/2010
This was pretty dense (As others have said) and then it depends on an individual's preferences. My kids similar it just fine, and information technology definitely is the kind of cake that you can actually shape and decorate without information technology completely falling autonomously, so swell for birthdays.
09/13/2010
This cake is entirely too dumbo. Just like others have said, it turns out like cornbread. Information technology is much too heavy for my liking, and I won't make it again.
05/ten/2012
My girl and I fabricated these together every bit office of a homeschooling project. Nosotros followed the instructions and ingredients to the "t" and like ane review said it wasn't fifty-fifty sweet and it even had a bitter taste. Such a large thwarting to my daughter and to me since nosotros made Ii.
10/03/2010
Corking sense of taste, super like shooting fish in a barrel to bake, love the texture
ten/12/2011
Delicious! And this block was super easy to make. I volition definitely use this once more.
08/14/2011
It was an average cake. My husband liked it but I felt it was merely ok. Nothing out of the ordinary.
11/xiii/2008
A good, all-purpose butter block.
05/04/2007
I followed the recipe exactly but put the batter in a 9" round cake can, blistering information technology for 47min. Information technology was a beautiful aureate brown on the outside, and tasted great. I didn't put any icing on the block for fear information technology would exist too sweet. The key is using practiced quality butter and real vanilla extract. The texture of the block was not very light, it was actually quite dense but my family enjoyed it very much.
05/02/2009
This block is delicious and turned out really well! I followed this recipe very closely - merely used cake flour and sifted all of the dry out ingredients. I also let my eggs and butter come to room temperature before using. I thought the texture was great - cake was very moist - non at all dry. I as well made sure not to overmix in one case I thoroughly creamed butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla. Thanks for the recipe!
01/03/2002
This was a great butter block!
03/11/2012
This is a great basic recipe for butter block, the closest I've found to my favorite butter cake dessert in a eatery! I added just a compression of cinnamon, ii and a one-half teaspoons of vanilla excerpt, and nearly a tablespoon actress of melted butter into the prepared concoction before putting information technology into the pan and took it out just when it got golden on acme and a toothpick came out make clean. They were perfectly flavored and very moist. Great with chocolate frosting or with fresh berries and whipped cream! Yum!
04/03/2013
Outstanding! I changed aught. However, depending on your oven, it can take less than l minutes to bake. I would start checking at 35 or so, with my one-time oven that runs hot. I baked it in an oval goulash that is slightly larger than a 9-in. round, which could business relationship for the shorter baking time. Again, outstanding only like it is!!
10/23/2005
This cake reminded me of cornbread with a thick crust. Does not nead to be in oven for 55 min. 45 tops to me. Great for a snack, not to sweet. Easy to make. had a piffling later on taste.
09/09/2001
Tasted like corn breadstuff instead of moist, Butter cake.
07/19/2010
First-class! I used this cake every bit the base for a frozen ice foam cake and it had the perfect texture and gustatory modality to become along with ice cream.
03/25/2006
Excellent results - I tried it with low-cal brown sugar instead of white, and the husband and I loved it! I creamed the butter and sugar it in a small chopper cos I don't yet take a mixer and the texture didn't suffer at all. Thank you very much - I'll definitely be making this again.
01/07/2011
when i made this cake it tasted pretty practiced, but information technology did have the texture of cornbread. The texture was simply a tad also rough for my sense of taste. I wouldnt make it over again.
03/26/2008
Very piece of cake! I made cupcakes, and constitute they raised beautifully and were light. I broiled them 30 minutes instead of the longer period for a layer cake.
04/24/2012
My family love it nosotros had information technology with strawberries and blackberries.
02/22/2007
Definitely practical, definitely easy. Just a note, I used vegetable oil spread instead of butter, and so I also reduced the amount of milk to prevent my batter from getting too runny. I also baked it in a loaf pan. The exterior of the cake was a niggling dark, simply the "crust" was my favorite part of the cake.
09/02/2001
Yummy! I made this into a two-layer cake for my daughter'south birthday and frosted information technology with buttercream frosting. It was great!
07/27/2013
This is the All-time!! aye BEST! xanthous cake I have ever tried! Information technology is moist and succulent. The simply thing is that information technology was finished cooking around thirty minutes! I am glad I checked it because I am pretty sure information technology would have dried out otherwise.
01/21/2006
I fabricated this cake using two, viii-inch rounds and baked it for only 25 to xxx minutes. Sifting the dry ingredients and really creaming the moisture ingredients volition brand this cake very light and smooth. Wonderful! People at piece of work loved it! I cut the ii rounds into ii (four layers) and made a frosting (Coconut frosting and filling--Donna) for only the layers using shredded kokosnoot, 2 c. sour cream, and two c. of granulated sugar. I reserved one cup of the frosting and mixed in 8 oz. of cool whip to frost the sides and summit. WOW!!! It was a sensation! Thank you!
07/12/2006
Used this recipe for cupcakes and they turned out not bad! I lessen the milk corporeality and added freshly squeezed orangish juice and orange rind for orange butter cake. My dwelling house smelled heavenly when the block was almost ready.
02/20/2011
I don't know what the heck I did wrong merely this came out tasting similar a sugariness corn bread. I did substitute sugar with Spenda and did and so equally directed on the Spenda bag. Nosotros will swallow it with dinner equally it just so happens I made soup this evening, but I will need to go go a birthday cake from the store.
06/25/2011
Very quick and piece of cake to brand...went wonderful with the fresh cherries picked today!! :)
07/30/2011
Excellent cake, very versatyle and very simple to make. Taste good, not to sugary and moist. Skillful recipe. Give thanks.
01/09/2011
I gave this recipe five stars because my married man loves information technology and that's enough for me. :) One thing to keep in mind, this is probably not a b-twenty-four hour period cake and it'south definitely non light and fluffy. I've made information technology twice now and intend to make information technology once more today, it always turns out simply correct. Not too sweet, not likewise rich - it'southward a great snack food. I followed the directions exactly, not calculation annihilation. It's corking!
ten/19/2009
This was a very practiced cake. I had to make some substitutions because I did not have milk (mixed cream, h2o and added some sour cream), and I did end upwardly adding an extra tablespoon of butter. All in all, wonderful cake - frosted with chocolate frosting. Yum! Thank you for the postal service.
05/12/2010
Delicious!! I followed the recipe exactly, making certain that my butter/carbohydrate was very well creamed. This cake has a spongy texture, only feels more dense than an angel food block. I think information technology almost resembles a java block in terms of texture. I as well threw in some chopped fresh strawberries and it was so yummy. I honey that this recipe is so versatile and you can add together fresh seasonal fruit, jams, frostings, whatever to make a cake for whatever mood you're in. I bet this cake would be nifty in pineapple upside downwardly cakes as well! This will be a definite get-to recipe for me.
11/08/2011
I but made information technology and doubled all the ingredients and it was very, very nice! Moist on the inside and crusty on summit. The taste was light withal buttery polish. Only how nosotros like it! Thank you for the recipe!
10/05/2007
This is an awesome recipie!I fabricated it for poker night and it was gone actually quickly! I frosted information technology with Hershey'southward Perfectly Chocolate frosting, the recipe which I plant at the dorsum of the coco pulverisation tin. The trouble with the block is that information technology takes longer to brown so you actually demand to keep an eye on it. i propose lowering the temperature if yous accept a fan forced oven like me. I baked it at 160+degrees celcius and it was in there for well-nigh 40+ mins or then. Oh and its best warm with the frosting on it. And the crusty bits stone! And information technology wasn't too dumbo at all. A overnice in between. :)
09/10/2006
It was quick, like shooting fish in a barrel, and with the addition of cinnamon and diced apples, it came out moist and delicious. The sides darkened (merely non burned) a trivial and the block was done in only about 45min, and with the addition of Butter Cream Frosting Ii information technology's already half-devoured.
02/04/2011
I had adept results with this recipe. Information technology is not the lightest cake but information technology is not heavy either. It is nice and moist if prepared correctly. I added more flavoring (1 ½ tsp. vanilla/ 1 tsp. orange oil) than the recipe chosen for. I made cupcakes; therefore the blistering time was much shorter, almost 25 min. for me. Regarding the dryness result that some bakers ran into; the length of time in the oven may be the culprit. Also, keep in mind the type of pan used does matter when determining the bake time.
09/18/2010
This is a very succulent cake! I made my cake in a bundt pan and it turned out GREAT..also added Caramel frosting and my son loved it. Definately a keeper in my recipes.
03/01/2009
I like heavy, moist cakes, and this was both of those merely it just didn't taste very good.
02/16/2007
Swell and yet simple. Already fabricated few times and recommended.
12/08/2009
This cake is awesome! If you are loking for a cake mix type block and so employ a mix, only if you are looking for something with a peachy flavour and an interesting texture, this is for you. Reminds me of the cakes my Gran made for me as a child!!
01/04/2007
Even though this block over flowed all over my oven and made a huge mess, it was actually moist and delicious. I made ii 8 inch cakes and made a custard to put between them and frosted it with chocolate fudge frosting. I loved it so much. Thank you. My husband loved it and my 2 twelvemonth old daughter was even caught sticking her finger in information technology when nosotros weren't looking. Will defintely brand once again.
11/28/2008
This is the all-time butter cake recipe I've ever tasted! One reviewer said it was coarse textured, but it is not. If yous want a finer texture to a cake, use block flour or pastry flour. Also very of import, broil information technology for twoscore minutes, non 50 or 55 minutes! I fabricated this for my 2nd wedding ceremony anniversary with a vanilla buttercream frosting and strawberry filling and oh! What a striking it was! Thank you lot for sharing!
01/04/2011
A decent little cake
03/10/2012
Love this recipe. Gustatory modality great. Only problem was the time. Kickoff block baked nether the recommended time of l - 55 minutes got burnt. second block was washed within 30 minutes and was perfectly moist.
05/10/2007
I used this cake for my daughters 3rd birthday "princess castle cake". It turned out perfect!! Everyone raved near how the block looked, and especially how good it was!!!
08/11/2008
This is exactly what I was looking for when I was searching for "butter cake". This cake is dense, golden on elevation, and not too sweet. It is not bad for shaped cakes or shaping because it is non crumbly and will non fall apart. I made cupcakes- mixed everything by hand to a shine, flossy finish and poured the newspaper cups to a niggling over half full. This made them ascent perfectly- not also alpine and not too short. I followed the ingredients, no substituting but existence cupcakes, I baked them for 40 minutes in an electric oven. They probably could have gone maybe 35 minutes, simply I forgot to check on them. While they were baking, my husband and I gobbled the extra batter. That is when I knew these would be yummy. I could not stop eating the batter. Anyway, after the timing issue, they came out fine and they are delicious! I will definitely make this recipe over again. Thanks! (P.S. I would like to annotate on the "cornbread" comments... this cake tastes Goose egg similar cornbread!)
xi/02/2003
This was very adept, I added cinnamon, allspice, ground cloves and a lilliputian nutmeg, it came out similar a spice cake. Very good and very easy, this recipe is a keeper!! Cheers Carol!!
08/09/2010
We LOVED this cake!! I topped it with "Rich Chocolate Frosting" from hither. I didn't find it at all dry. I think it tasted wonderful and information technology is on it's tertiary day and notwithstanding as moist every bit twenty-four hour period i. And then easy to make!
03/22/2011
This was not to my liking! The only change I made to the ingredients was doubling the vanilla extract - and the block Nevertheless tasted like flour. It is a chip on the dense side but I didn't listen that at all... Flavor was the biggest thwarting!
03/28/2005
The cake is simple withal very nice.My boyfriend loves it,so practice i! :)
07/12/2010
This block tasted good. I followed other reviewers and added an extra egg white. But but a heads up..this is NOT a 2 layer cake. I put information technology in two 8" round pans and they really didnt turn out very big. So make sure you follow the recipe which yeilds 1 8" pan. This was a chip hard to decorate as it was kind of crumbly. I am pretty proficient advertizing decorating cakes but when frosting this cake, I kept getting crumbs in the frosting.
03/17/2006
An fantabulous, easy, quick recipe. I have made it twice already and accept received rave reviews. It is superb with a struesel topping and served as a coffee-block!
10/26/2003
My married man is a big fan of butter cakes and so I tried this and put a twinkie cream from another recipe in the eye. It was fantastic! I was a piffling concerned that it wouldn't take a adept enough butter taste for him then I added a teaspoon of butter flavoring with the ane teaspoon vanilla and wow! Not sure I needed the butter flavoring but i found this to be quite good. If you have a problem with the texture, make sure you mix your sugar and butter until CREAMED this will take away some of the dust that some mutter about.
02/23/2011
I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out keen! Got sooo many compliments, and it was easy to decorate (did not crumb more than than any other cake).
05/15/2010
This is an Crawly recipe[: i made this really easily :D i wouldnt propose so much vanilla extract though, personally, half a teaspoon is enough.
02/03/2011
This cake is awesome! Then moist and so flavorful! Completely enjoyable without frosting!
09/nineteen/2011
Not bad! Fabricated cupcakes out of the recipe. Looked, smelled and tasted and so yummy!
05/16/2009
Nifty tasting cake and piece of cake to set up. Very dense only not dry. Definitely use block flour.
08/06/2011
OMG what a fantastic cake... Actually wanted block.. I love block :) The one reviewer is right to go the best moistness trounce the butter well after each addition! I will utilise this all the time!!! Thanks
06/23/2010
i dearest this recipe-thank you Carol! i apply information technology every bit a base and add my variations, eg upside down pineapple block, berry filling/topping, double layer cake with choc frosting etc...and the listing goes on! its a quick and very versatile cake and it has tasted cracking every time. five stars :)
02/05/2012
Didn't turn out the way I thought it would. I left information technology in the oven for xxx minutes and that was also long even. Sad, I was hoping this would be a adept cake.
10/12/2008
I doubled this recipe and used a 9x13 baking dish. It'due south of import if you want great results, you follow the directions closely. I made sure to whip the fats and the sugar until fluffy, sift the dry out ingredients and alternating the dry ingredients with the moisture (ie, milk). My block came out incredible. I frosted this cake with the Special Buttercream Frosting also from this site. Great pairing. I'd brand this again. This was a fun weekend recipe to brand with my oldest boy.
04/13/2006
I loved this cake! I made cupcakes with it, and friends at work loved it too. Mine was light, buttery, and moist. Some reviews thought the block was like corn breadstuff. Information technology is a petty more dense than some cakes, but I actually liked that almost it.
06/04/2015
I just fabricated this with Bob's Carmine Mill cup for loving cup gf flour mix. I doubled the recipe for an extra large cake pan lowered the temp to 325, broiled for 40 minutes and information technology came out great. No hump in the middle because I lowered the temp.
05/03/2007
very nice..only my block burnt on the top at xxx minutes..any suggestion why?so I slow down the temperature
03/14/2006
This recipe was absolutely fabulous! I added an extra teaspoon of vanilla and a nuance of cinnamon for extra flavour. I was out of butter so I used butter flavored Crisco. The texture was lighter than when I used butter.
04/08/2007
This is a heavy block with a good flavor. To lighten it up I am going to make whipped foam and put strawberries in the middle.
02/xi/2011
I Dearest this recipe, this is my get to recipe for all vanilla and butter requests I get. It'south e'er moist and super yummy, I e'er become cypher only raves when I make a cake with this recipe. I exercise add just a bit more of vanilla extract and I too wrap the layers in plastic wrap over nighttime to help lock in the wet.
09/xvi/2006
It was FANTASTIC, LOVED Information technology, was very lite and fluffy, followed it to a ' T ', but my caked was already done in 38 mins, and a chip on the dark side, next fourth dimension i would bake for 30 mins.
06/07/2007
This recipe was wonderful. I fabricated the block into cupcakes and though information technology looked like cornbread, it did non taste like cornbread at all! I added a teaspoon of almond extract to the recipe and a piffling extra carbohydrate. The texture was not likewise dense or cornbread like. As another person said, I think it is important to cream the butter well as well every bit to foam the carbohydrate, butter, and egg mixture well likewise. I volition make this again!
12/23/2012
I really like this cake. Per others suggestions, I added one more than egg yolk and ii tblsp of butter. I also creamed the butter and saccharide for five minutes earlier adding anything else. This recipe is a keeper!
03/26/2014
Perfect picayune butter block for a small dessert. I followed the recipe instructions except I separated the eggs and whipped the whites and so folded them in at the cease. Calorie-free and fluffy and moist. Will make again.
10/17/2013
A perfect meeting of light and dumbo cake! Made 28 *perfect* cupcakes!
07/28/2008
Peachy success for this 1st time bakery !!! For really, I am so proud of myself with the result and aid from this recipe and all the + & - ratings. The cake came out peachy. Pretty moist and yummy !!! It turned out taking 55 mins with my oven. Didn't came out like a corn bread at all. After reviewed many different ratings, I have taken some advices and changed the recipe a little past adding ane more egg, one/2 tsp of vanilla. Since this is my first time baking, I would not know the difference if I didn't have more eggs or vanilla. But, this pleasent experence accept given me great confident for my next attempt, (later I accept finished this cake with my family) I will probably try the same recipe with wallnuts or bluebarries, ... will also take other advice to try and add 2 more than tsp of butter too so see how it come out. Bake-on !!!
12/08/2008
I read through the reviews hoping that when I made it that it wasn't like cornbread....it was. It had the texture of cornbread. Merely it notwithstanding tasted proficient and looked pretty!!! I wish I knew why it was like cornbread because I beat the heck out of the butter/carbohydrate mixture. Maybe I volition have to try block flour. But it was nonetheless very yummy!

Nice and moist and rich. I ran out of white sugar (oops!) so I had to use about half a cup of chocolate-brown to brand upwardly the difference. I served it with fresh strawberries, icecream (vanilla) and a little drizzle of good balsalmic vineager. And my husband enjoyed fresh fruit!

I was looking to make a butter block from scratch for my strawberry shortcake cups. The cake came out light, had a lovely fine texture and tasted great! I had been doing research and saw that to get a fine crumb you have to beat the butter and sugar for 5-ten minutes. I fabricated certain to exercise this as recommended by the Joy Baking site and other Allrecipes reviewers. Also, since I really like vanilla, I added an extra teaspoon of vanilla excerpt. Lastly, I was testing out making the block in a jelly scroll pan. I doubled the recipe and it worked fine. Blistering time 25 minutes if anyone was interested.
